HENK VOS

Henk Vos designed perhaps one of Gelderland's most famous pieces of furniture: the 4800 sofa. Vos studied interior architecture at the Academy of Visual Arts in Rotterdam. After his father died in 1963, Henk took over the upholstery and furniture factory which grew into a leading interior design institute in the Netherlands. His bureau for interior architecture designed the interiors of, among others, the De Bijenkorf offices and the Conference Centre in Amsterdam. His interior design for the Kruisherenhotel in Maastricht won the European Design Award in 2005.

Vos' designs distinguish themselves by their simple, straightforward forms and clean lines. 'Better empty than ugly' is his motto. Not only do the clear forms make Henk Vos' designs timeless, but high-quality materials also ensure a long lifespan.
